Arne Nature Reserve

Jude’s happy place

Arne Nature Reserve

Arne is located in the Isle of Purbeck and as it’s an RSPB nature reserve it is strictly dogs on lead only. There are wardens there to enforce it, so if you are the owner of an anxious/reactive dog, or you yourself are anxious about off lead dogs approaching you, Arne is the perfect place. Some of the trails are a little narrow, but you are easily able to step off them and make space if need be. If your dog is comfortable with other dogs at a 2m distance, you will be fine in Arne. There are lots of trails, through heathland, woodland, and a beach with stunning views across Poole harbour. Dogs must be on lead on the beach too.

Length of walk: Approximately 60-90 mins depending which trails you do. Could do as little as 40 mins if you wanted to.

Closest food/drink stop and tell us why you recommend it: The cafe at Arne.

TIP:

There are now ponies, pigs and cattle roaming free so if you or your dog is wary of animals roaming free then it might not be for you.
