Pyrenean Mountain Dog

Introduction:

The Pyrenean mountain dog or patou in french is a guard dog in the mountains. His role is to live with the herd of sheep or cows, and warn in case of a danger. He will always bark before attacking.

Keywords: barking !!!! Giant guardian herd protector

Traits: very protective. But not agressive. Will bark more than attack

Exercise: needs his walks to be happy. 30min to an hour but no running just enjoying the surrounds

Health: Newton my dog has good health in general for his 5 years. The breed can get joints issues.

Why you will never have another breed again: because it's a very special dog there's not two like that. I always feel safe and he is full of love

Comparison to other breeds:

Compared to a border collie he doesn't have at all the prey instinct. Therefore he cannot be trained using this instinct. In fact he doesn't care about toys or food so hard to train in general

Average life expectancy: 10/12 years

Average weight: 50kg

Ups of breed: loyal - protective

Downs of breed: Lots of barking - impressive size

Personal Stories

I have so many.. we lived in 2 countries, and he adapted to UK ! Even though he is a big one and people are scared of him. I feel he is unique and I know he is impressive but not dangerous at all
