Tyneham & Worbarrow Bay

Logan pottering in the watery pebbles

A lovely countryside dog walk at Tyneham (The "Ghost village") & Worbarrow Bay in Dorset.

Tyneham village was requisitioned by the military in WW2 - but the villagers never returned & so the buildings are "frozen in time".

Wonderful scenic views from the top of the ridge at Whiteway Hill and the beautiful Worbarrow Bay is quite enchanting.

Nearest cafe is probably at Wareham (although I did see a "pop up" cafe / bar on the road to Tyneham!

Length of walk: 4 miles

A lovely video above made by Dave Ford.

TIPS:

Toilets at Tyneham car park

Important note: Always check the opening times before you go as generally Tyneham is only open at weekends due to the firing range (& usually one weekend a month is closed as well). It is open for the 2 weeks over Xmas and also for 2 weeks in August. The website for open times is at https://tynehamopc.org.uk/visiting-tyneham/opening-times/

“They sometimes have cows , if you were to go and walk on the coastal path, yes it is a firing range, but always plenty of livestock in the fields, on the road down.” From Gill Hodge
