Stour Valley Way

Starting at Tuckton Tea Gardens, walk to the river keeping it on your left-hand side and follow the footpath to Hengistbury at the end by the small beach and ferry crossing (just a bit further along is the sign).

Cross open heathland and descend to a beach.

Dog friendly all year!

Follow the beach around the headland and out onto the spit where you will find a cafe. You can return by retracing your steps or follow the river path back or take the tarmac path round the Head, or over the top but DOGS ON LEADS OVER THE TOP. You can shorten the walk by parking at the Head carpark.

Park at top of Wick Lane. FREE between Oct 31 and March 1.

TIPS:

Look at the tides. The beach is stoney so quite hard walking unless the tide is out and then it is great. Also great for letting dogs with poor recall off lead on the beach
