CANINE COUPLE’S THERAPY

Mental Health / Empathy / Behaviour First Aid for you and your dog

The human-dog relationship is symbiotic.

Often our dogs are the only beings who we can truly connect with, who don’t judge us and who can help us humans through the worst of times.

At Dorset Dogs and on our Facebook Community group we are a supportive community of 23K members, our aim is to raise the awareness of how important dogs are to a human’s mental health. And we offer ways to help you and your dog to cope in the current climate of depression, anxiety, money worries and loss of purpose.

We want to help enable you to give back to your dog as much as they give to you. To help you both to cope the best way possible in this complicated world that we live in. In America, it is a given that you have a therapist. We all need one. I have a therapist myself as well as being lucky enough to have Merlin my dog as therapy. What is offered here is therapy with a difference. It involves your best friend, your dog, and discovering how you can help each other in the most balanced and healthy way.

Sometimes it is the dog who has the behaviour issues or canine health concerns that are 'no-one's fault' however, you have a powerful role in helping your dog transform and heal and in doing so your own life will feel happier and more purposeful.

Couples counselling for you and your dog looks at the relationship as a whole. It helps you to deepen your connection with your dog in a way that ‘speaks’ their language. You may be struggling at the moment with how the world around you is feeling. Isolated, anxious, depressed, angry, frustrated, disconnected. Your dog can help you discover your life's purpose and liberate you from the feelings above, to a place where you feel better able to manage the stresses we all face day-to-day.

Dogs are gods, they perform a four-legged support role and we can help each other as human and dog.

This is counselling to discover any blindspots in a person's life that may be blocking your further development. This often occurs when you are experiencing repeating patterns of behaviour either for yourself or for your dog.

THE CHARITY SIDE TO WHAT WE DO: WATCH the BBC News interview with Nicky and the Pet Food Banks initiative we have set-up to try and help those in most desperate need within the community. Your own counselling goes towards helping others who cannot afford it. As part of the Pet Food Banks initiatives our volunteers go into the community food banks to offer empathy chats. When people open up about their dogs, they open up about themselves. And there are resources we can direct them for help as well as what we provide as a community.

Apply for an online zoom face-to-face appointment by filling in the form below (discovery calls are also offered). It may take up to a week for a reply due to demand however, we always aim to come back to your soonest.

Nicky and our Dorset Dogs therapists are qualified in either/both mental health first aid, professional counselling and dog behaviour.

If you would like to consult Nicky, she uses an integrative approach that incorporates many disciplines and if you are open to it she can offer Animal Communication and Intuitive Counselling to discover any blindspots in a person's life that may be blocking your further development. This often occurs when you are experiencing repeating patterns of behaviour either yourself or your dog. You will be asked for your birth information on booking.
