What is a holistic or integrative vet?

With Dr Amy Watson (Integrative Vet) and Nicky Merlin (Dog Behaviourist)

I often get asked the question: but is a holistic vet really a vet? Which does make me chuckle… Yes a vet has be qualified and registered to practice a as a veterinarian whether a Holistic one or not. An Integrative or Holistic vet is a term for those vets who have extended their studies into further advanced fields of medicine. Systems of animal healing that stretch back far longer than modern day science but that can be backed by science as well. An Integrative vet has all the advantages of modern day science and compensate for the drawbacks with natural remedies that do not have the same side effects as chemical medications and that can treat many illnesses that puzzle the general practitioner vet.

I have both a “GP” vet for emergencies and a second Holistic vet in Dr Amy at Pinpoint. I have also had Dr Elliott and Dr Thompson as Integrative vets in the past and can highly recommend all of them. Sadly, Mark Elliott no longer practices for canines.
